Ripley's really laid back, physically - he's not a big risk taker, and pretty much only attempts things I'm comfortable with. Tate, on the other hand, is just one: but I can already see that I'll be struggling more with the let-go/be-safe dilemma with him. He's an adventurer, that one!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14962422.post-59634826137948933012006-10-09T14:23:00.000-04:002006-10-09T14:23:00.000-04:00This is a fantastic post! I've also been working on celebrating independence, but it's sometimes difficult to gauge, as you indicate here, where pride shades over into foolhardiness.Scrivenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05922358016805022637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14962422.post-55536145648738688962006-10-09T12:22:00.000-04:002006-10-09T12:22:00.000-04:00Sigh. AT HH services, I watched a friend's two year old climbing over the back of the pews and how my friend moved - just a little to make sure her girl didn't hit her head but not enough to make her feel like she wasn't doing it on her own.

And I thought, how the hell am I going to do this? Thanks for the insight into how you do it.art-sweethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07421342770323258531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14962422.post-58058787517474208802006-10-07T22:59:00.000-04:002006-10-07T22:59:00.000-04:00Wow. (I have a post in the pipeline about freaking out over Baby Blue's small size and how hard it is for her to keep up with the bigger kids.)

I think as a family we need to work on valuing independence a little bit more, and forseeing all possible risk a little bit less. How frequently we say "You could get hurt!" instead of "You can try."Phantom Scribblerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03258384756183844406noreply@blogger.com
