Although we're in a lovely little house with good internet access, Politica and I are working on enjoying our evenings, getting lots of sleep, and just relaxing. So I don't know how much I'll be writing for the next week or so, but I wanted to leave you all an image from earlier today. Nothing says it's summer like a girl running across the beach. We're having fun, and I I wish you all soft salty breezes and clear horizons. I'm so loving being back at the beach, back on the east coast where the accents are fabulous, the hair is big, the pizza is delicious, and where people are talkatively friendly to strangers. And where I need a shower every night to get the salt out of my hair, and where I hear gulls first thing in the morning. I can just feel the tension melting away. I am just not a midwesterner at heart: I feel at home here (even though I'm not actually home, but about 4 hours south of where I grew up. Close enough.)
Bonus conversation: Curious Girl wakes up and says to me "Mama, can I wake up early?" "Yes," I say, and leave my own eyes mostly closed. CG sits up, heads to the end of the bed, and then comes back to me. "Mama, when I get up early, you get up early, too. It's much more funner to be early up with you."

She is the cutest. I hope you never forget that she said that!
I totally agree with you about time away at the beach. I feels so free and relaxed.
Sweet! Enjoy your vacation!
I love that photo. So summery. And she is just the sweetest girl I've ever met.
Awww. How sweet.
