Scenes from the Super Goal Party

In my earlier post, I said that Curious Girl is developing an attachment to Local Team. An attachment, yes, but she has no clue about football itself. As the game started, she said, "Mommy, why are they all falling down?"

Our friends gave her a jersey, which she first didn't want to put on over her fancy dress, but she eventually did. As soon as the kickoff sounded, though, she ran to take her dress off and to have her jersey on, to help Local Team. Then she noticed that she matched the people on the screen, and started saying "Mama! I came out of the TV! I'm going to help them play."

I don't think I've watched a sporting event with someone who is actively rooting in quite some time. Curious Girl just stared at one of our friends who was watching rather actively. Every time our friend would jump out of his seat in reaction to a play, CG would just look at him with this look of amazement.

"Where is my number? I want my number to have the ball," she kept saying. Then she and our friends' child would run off to lob balls around, or to watch Thomas the Frickin' Tank Engine. Whenever the adults reacted to the TV, she would come back to watch the replay.

We left the party after the first quarter. When we were talking about our favorite parts of the day, she said, "I liked the Super Goal party." (As someone noted in a comment over at Phantom's today, it's almost spring training, and from there, just a short hop to the World Serious. Anyone's child have a great new name for the Stanley Cup?)

LG is suitably impressed by CG's jersey, and is somewhat cheered to hear that at least CG's team is going to win.

I don't suppose there are any Nutella cupcakes left?

Hooray! I was rooting for her number all day.

I'm sure he was greatly assisted by the small people dancing during the first quarter. She'll be glad to know (at least some of) my friends in the computer were similarly pleased by the outcome.

I'm seeing her in about 20 years as an adorable but extremly knowledable sports reporter, asking all the right quesions, being that she is 'Curious Girl,' reporting from the locker room?

Hi mamacita!!

In addition to the funny things she has continued to say--"did my team win?" about seven times during breakfast; "did the other team win, too?"; "why did the one with the long curly hair get an owie?" she said at one point, "Why there no girls playing with Our Team?"

Oh, CG is so freakin' cute! I love the little Peyton jersey. She's welcome to come over and watch sporting events with AB anytime. (He'll teach her the finer points of hockey.)

I just love the comment "I came out of the TV!" What a great imagination.
