to buy this house for 323,950. Almost halfway between what we offered and the list price. Next up: inspection and appraisal. We're not celebrating until we get through those steps, as we are still recovering from the premature happies on the last house. Not to mention the fact that we're regretting having sold the couch that couldn't fit in The House That Got Away. It would have fit in this one.
On the bright side, we have furniture coming our way, courtesy of the storage facility currently holding a lot of my father-in-law's furniture.
Not so bad.
And I got some writing done today, on a piece I've been putting off for far too long. I really like writing, and it's good to remember that.

I'm curious about the lean-to like glass in front of the front door. I keep thinking that it would make sense for snow, and then thinking that maybe I'm making this up because I've never seen such a structure before and it's been years since my Waterloo days. Is this a common snow-area architecture?
Someone who liked glass once owned this house. In addition to that glassed in space (which I've not seen on any other house), there's a kind of greenhouse-addition on a back deck off the master bedroom. The glassed-in area in the front kind of protects the front door, and down in the corner of the triangle there's a lane of crushed stones, I guess for leaving boots or muddy shoes on? They'd get cold out there, though. It's kind of odd, but not unattractive. It remains to be seen how functional it is.

Looks kind of like the house/neighborhood I grew up in. Hope this one works.
Interesting! So it's a house that really has its own character. Something other than "Character" - meaning Edwardian with nice crown moldings - but rather an imprint of the creativity and ideas of people who had been there before.
I'll wait to give my congratulations until it's all signed, sealed, and delivered, but it's an exciting prospect!
